Closing An Exciting 2024: Global Publications and Key-Note Speaking

Neil A. Gordon, M.D.
Neil A. Gordon, M.D.

As 2024 comes to an end we are honored by our global successes and recognition.

Publications

Dr. Gordon published multiple significant papers in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine and Facial Plastic Surgery, the leading American and European academic journals in facial plastic surgery.

Highlights

As an invited author in the official European academic journal, Dr. Gordon published his advanced Deep-Plane facelift technique that maximizes the results and longevity, while minimizing the recovery. In publishing these technical advances, he defines and solves the conundrum of quick recoveries that often lead to facelift failures (the need for another facelift within 2 years) while better results created longer recoveries.

The JAMA publication validated Dr. Gordon’s ground-breaking advancements of the original deep-plane technique he first described in 2000. This multi-center, multi-national study proved that Dr. Gordon’s advancements to the Deep-Plane technique created better and longer lasting results while allowing for faster recovery. This has been named the “Preservation Deep-Plane Facelift” in social media.

Speaking

After a busy first half of the year, as the key-note speaker in Colombia, Argentina, Germany, and the US, below are highlights from the fall.

Australian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and Australian Society of Plastic Surgery – Sydney, Australia.

This was the second combined conference of the societies (Dr. Gordon was one of the key-note speakers at the first one in 2019). In addition to his other key-note Deep-Plane Rhytidectomy presentations, this was the first time Dr. Gordon presented his new research on the Evolutionary, Embryologic and Clinical Evidence Supporting the Deep-plane Rhytidectomy: Providing A Precise Definition of the Technique.

European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery Annual Conference – Istanbul, Turkey.

Dr. Gordon was one of three key-note speakers and honored guests. One of his key-note addresses was the “Deep-Plane Rhytidectomy: Understanding the Evolution of The Technique”. This presentation outlines his first proof of the technique in 1996, his multiple advancements leading to the publication of his advanced technique, which is being called in social media, “The Preservation Deep-Plane Facelift”.

American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Annual Conference – New Orleans, LA.

Dr. Gordon was the moderator and speaker at one of the main panels. One of his key-note addresses was the “Deep-Plane Rhytidectomy: Understanding the Evolution of The Technique from 1996- 2024”. After the conference, Dr. Gordon was voted the most desired speaker for future AAFPRS conferences.

Spanish Society of Facial Plastic Surgery Annual Conference – Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Gordon was honored as the key-note speaker presenting the “Evolutionary, Embryologic and Clinical Evidence Supporting The Deep-plane Rhytidectomy: Providing A Precise Definition of the Technique” as well as “Deep-Plane Rhytidectomy: Understanding the Evolution of The Technique”.

Philippines Society For Cosmetic Surgery – Manilla, Philippines.

This was Dr. Gordon’s second straight invitation to give a virtual key-note lecture, “Deep-Plane Rhytidectomy: Understanding the Evolution of The Technique”.

The Popularity of the Deep-Plane Facelift:  Who’s Actually Doing It?

As the first surgeon to prove the Deep-Plane facelift in 1996, Dr. Gordon has the most experience and has published the science that supports the technique.  This is why he is considered the world’s expert in the technique.

For the first 20 years the technique was questioned but due to Dr. Gordon’s efforts it is now accepted as the most anatomically correct technique to reverse facial aging by restoring the anatomy of youth without signs of surgery.

The deep plane term has recently gained popularity amongst surgeons without evidence that they have been trained in, or are performing, the very specific technique described and proven by Dr. Gordon.

Because of its recent popularity amongst surgeons, the “deep-plane” term is being utilized by many physicians without evidence that they are trained in or are performing a very specific technique as described by Dr. Gordon.

Unlike a buying a car (a specific BMV for example), which is the same product in every dealership, the deep-plane technique is often not being performed by the strict standards defined by the science proven in Dr. Gordon’s research and work. This is evidenced by the myriad of revision facelift procedures performed by Dr. Gordon.
